Talisman Transitions
Talisman Transitions is an independent living program for young adults ages 18 to 24 with Asperger’s Syndrome, Nonverbal Learning Disorder, high-functioning autism and similar autism spectrum disorders.
We utilize a strength-based approach in order to increase self-esteem while enhancing the ability of students to make positive responsible choices. We focus on improving social awareness, independence, and academic and vocational skills.
Students at Talisman Transitions receive instruction and guidance on developing the skills needed to successfully transition into their next phase in life. Our curriculum focuses on the following areas:
- Career Exploration and Preparation
- Social and Community Integration
- Independent Living Skills
- Healthy Living
Each student receives personalized attention and will work closely with a highly skilled program advisor who provides oversight of each student’s plan and develops interventions, training and feedback according to the specific needs of that student. Our program advisors develop a strong rapport with our students, becoming trusted advisors and mentors.
During their stay, students can finish their high school diploma at Talisman Academy, pursue employment in the local community or attend classes at local community colleges. It is our goal that upon completion of our program students will have gained the knowledge and experience to live independently while pursuing employment or post-secondary education.
